Page history last edited by Brooke Maynard 6 years ago

Georges Séguy is a politician, resistant and French trade unionist,

Born on March 16, 1927 in Toulouse

Died August 13, 2016

From 1967 to 1982 he was the Secretary General of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT).

As Secretary General, Séguy played a leading role during the strikes in May 1968. He joined Prime Minister, Georges Pompidou and 25,000 strikers at Renault factories to explain the terms of the agreement. The strikers rejected the agreement and the strikes continued.

Due to the situation, even communist leaders no longer had control. The news spread fast across the country and many strikers returned to the strike.
