Just hours before Charles de Gaulle’s appearance on the radio, he simply disappeared.

COMMUNISTS

On 29th of May the government announced De Gaulle’s return home to prepare his speech for the radio and to rest after his trip to Romania.

Instead he took the helicopter to Baden-Baden which is home to the French forces in Germany. He was followed by his wife, son and family members. (Expand) Significant politicians and the prime minister didn’t know where he was.
